Abstract

This research proposal aims to fund a MASTER training based on the manufacture of electrodes, electrolytes and their respective electrochemical studies for Li-S battery-like capacitor. Li-S batteries have a higher energy density than conventional Li-ion batteries and these are the results we hope to achieve. For this, the idea is to use the best solutions reported in the literature for Li-S batteries applying to asymmetric systems with the best carbon electrodes for supercapacitors, which our group has developed in the last 3 years. The advantage of this proposed solution would be the ultra-fast charging of the batteries and a possible solution for the trapping of undesirable by-products such as LiSx that forms on the surface of the electrodes and which are electrical insulating compounds and without catalytic activity. In this context, the beneficiary, according to the responsible researcher and collaborators, will study XRD diffraction and Raman and mass spectroscopies the electrodes and electrolytes under dynamic conditions.
