Abstract

The aim is to evaluate the effect of systemic condition (obesity and use of bisphosphonate) on the osseointegration of implants with hydrophilic surface. 96 rats will be used and these animals will be allocated into 3 groups with 16 animals each: Hydrophilic group (GH): implant with hydrophilic surface, Hydrophilic/Obese group (GH-O): implant with hydrophilic surface and obese animals; Hydrophilic/Bisphosphonate group (GH-B): implant with hydrophilic surface and animals that use bisphosphonate, Hydrophobic group (GH): implant with hydrophobic modified surface, Hydrophobic/Obese group (GH-O): implant with hydrophobic modified surface and obese animals; Hydrophobic/Bisphosphonate group (GH-B): implant with hydrophobic modified surface and animals that use bisphosphonate.. The implants will be installed in the animals' tibia and after 15 and 45 days the animals will be euthanized. The osseointegration process will be evaluated by biomechanical tests (torque removal) and histological analyses (quality of the bone, formation of vessels, quality of the connective tissue matrix and appearance of the cells that make up the bone tissue).
