Abstract

Tropical diseases caused by parasites, such as Chagas Disease, Sleeping Sickness and Leishmaniasis, affect thousands of people every year. Due to a lack of efficient drugs for the treatment, these diseases cause the death of many infected.Among the organic compounds that attract the attention of medicinal chemistry, fused nitrogen heterocycles, such as pyrroloquinazolines and pyrroloisoquinolines, are widely studied, since these structures are present in many bioactive compounds. Therefore, it is of major importance the development of new methodologies for the synthesis and functionalization of these heterocycles. The C-H functionalization reactions have emerged in the last years as an important tool for the functionalization of nitrogen heterocycles. These reactions allow the enhancement of structural diversity without the need of the use of prefunctionalized molecules. Hence, it is possible to obtain a collection of compounds in a reduced number of steps, which implies reduction of reagents and residues. Accordingly, this project aims the study of reactions for the functionalization of azaarenes employing C-H functionalization reactions for obtaining 5 and 6 member fused heterocycles in only one step. The synthesized compounds will be against different parasitary diseases. (AU)
