Abstract The main objective of the project is to understand which mechanisms explain the institutionalization of the demands of evangelical organizations by the State in two different contexts: when there are formal partnerships between these actors - the case of therapeutic communities; and when these organizations put their representatives inside the state bureaucracy - the case of guardianship councilors. Our main hypothesis is that when the State interacts with evangelical organizations for the production of public policies, it starts to institutionalize categories inspired by religious values, starting to "see" in part as such organizations. From a qualitative perspective, the research will be conducted through documentary research and semi-structured interviews. Our proposal is part of the work agenda of the Center for Metropolitan Studies (CEM / CEPID), more specifically of the thematic project "Multilevel governance of social assistance policy", coordinated by Prof. Dr. Renata Bichir. We will contribute to this project as we seek to understand the different modes of interaction between state actors and a social actor less studied by the literature, but of extreme relevance today, evangelical organizations. Our main theoretical contribution will be to illuminate processes of institutionalization of demands that are especially relevant to understand the relations between the State and civil society in Brazil, a debate that is on the frontier of socio-state studies. | |
