Abstract

In this study, racism is an important element of discrimination and racialization of young male bodies, pointing their life experience to marginalization and the criminal stigma. Based on the relations between the formulation of socio-educative measures and the study of race, this research aims to establish connections related to the identity constitution of these young people and their mental health. Thereby, this project has the goal to comprehend and analyze how the issues around race and masculinity cross the history of male teenagers under socio-educative measures. For this purpose, the study adopted the methodology of oral history among male teenagers who are self-declared black or mixed-race under socio-educative measures without freedom restraint. It is expected that this project contribute to academic production in the mental health field such as to the study of socio-educative measures, proposing a new perspective to the discussion of ethnic-racial issues and masculinity of young males.
