Abstract Focusing on the literature required in Rio Branco Institute's admission exam to the Diplomatic Career between 2003 and 2016, the project aims to analyze how literature can convey an idea of national identity for Brazilian foreign policy in the above mentioned period. The study of internal and external drivers that lead States to take certain actions in the international system is at the heart of International Relations. It is important thus to understand the different mechanisms which articulate these forces - and the professional formation of the diplomats is one of the many drivers that influence a country's foreign policy, as with any other national policy. Therefore, to carry out this interdisciplinary project, this project will be based on a qualitative approach of primary sources (document analysis: Rio Branco exams between 2003 and 2016 and the required literature in those exams) and secondary sources (literature review on the history of Brazilian Foreign Policy). The information will be analysed according to a scholarship which takes into account the political role of literature. | |
