Abstract

Intermittent hypoxia exposure associated with exercise (IHE) has been an useful strategy to induce non hematological adaptations and improve sport performance. Recently this strategy was used as a non pharmacological treatment against obesity and hypertension. Although the results were relevant when associated with exercise, some types of exercises are impracticable due to osteoarticular limitations. Another important aspect reffer to the limitations of IHE with the context of "real life" participants. Additionally the intermittent hypoxia of recovery between efforts (IHR), appears a viable alternative. Thereby, the aim of the presente project will be investigate the effects of aquatic training associated to IHR under body composition , lipidic profile and areobic fitness in obese and overweight people. Thirty subjects (aged 29 - 59 years; BMI e 25 kg/m2) will be submitted to eight weeks of training and recovery in normoxia (TNOR+RNOR, n= 15) training in normoxi and recovery under hipoxia (TNOR + RHIP, n=15) (FiO2: 13%). During this phase, the tests will last two days and will take place before, at the end of the fourth week (post-4) and in the eigth week (post-8) of the proposed intervention models. In the first day, will be realized DEXA to estimate body composition, blood collection to estimate non-hematological parameters (hematocrit and lipidic profile) and treadmill incremental test, to estimate peak oxygen intake (VO2peak) and anaerobic threshold. In the second, will be accomplished and incremental test using the " tied deep water running", also to estimate VO2peak, anaerobic limiar and iVO2peak in deep water running specific condition. The possible effects of TNOR+RHIP will be compared to TNOR+RNOR through the analysis of variance test (ANOVA-Two way), following by the post hoc of Turkey test. In all cases significance level will pre-fixed in p<0,05.
