Clinical decision and patient expectative on resin composite restorations for anterior teeth

Abstract

The decision to repair or replace composite resin restorations on anterior teeth may be affected by the patient's aesthetic demand. The objective of the study will be to compare on resin composite restorations of anterior teeth the evaluation of clinical performance by professionals with patient opinion. Resin composite restorations on anterior teeth will be evaluated using the International Dental Federation (IDE) Criteria. The patient view (criteria 10) will assign a score of 1 (acceptable) or 2 (unacceptable). Sequent, two calibrated professionals will evaluate composite restorations on the 15 criteria with scores from 1 to 5 (excellent and unacceptable). In the professional evaluation, scores from 1 to 3 identify acceptable composite resin restorations and 4 to 5 unacceptable (needing repair or replacement). The data will be analyzed with descriptive statistics and Cohen Kappa test.
