Abstract

This project aims to synthesize organic compounds that have antiviral activity, via multicomponent reactions, using natural catalysts, wich contribute to a lower environment impact. The objective is to synthesize and characterize heterogeneous acid catalysts, synthesize and purify Hantzch Pirrol derivatives via heterogeneous catalysis, evaluate the recycling capacity of the catalyst used in the reaction and evaluate the antiviral activity of the products obtained. The methods used will be, first, the synthesis of coumarin, then its bromination and later its use in the non-classical Hantzsch reaction. In parallel, the multicomponent reaction with coumarin initially obtained and commercially available reagents will also be performed. Finally, evaluation of the biological activity of the products obtained will be carried out in partnership with Prof. Glaucius Oliva of the Center for Research and Innovation in Biodiversity and Drugs (CIBFar) (IFSC-USP), through the project "Development of antivirals for the treatment of COVID-19", funded by FAPESP. The phenotypic assay with SARS-CoV-2 and human Huh cells, on a High Content Screening platform, will be conducted at USP's Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB). (AU)
