Abstract

Autologous bone grafting (ABG) is still considered the standard method for alveolar cleft repair. The best results of bone formatting occur when it is performed during mixed dentition (8-10y). However, there is a range of patients who don't achieve satisfactory results or don't have the proper access to cleft treatment. When the ABG is performed later, during the permanent dentition, greater chances of failure (~40%). In the past two decades, studies focus com tissue engineering with bone substitutes and/or bone stimulators. Since the knowledge about stromal vascular fraction and adipose-derived stem cells, and their theoretical capacity of tissue regeneration, great interest emerged in many fields of medicine. The use of them is still limited in craniofacial surgery. The main goal of this study is to conduct a prospective, randomized, and controlled study to establish a more efficient method of bone graft integration for alveolar cleft patients with permanent dentition using emulsified stromal vascular fraction and iliac crest bone graft.
