Abstract

Our group is performing new measurements of quantum correlations in silicon nitride microcavities, using a C-band laser as a pump for in-chip parametric oscillators. These systems have great potential in the versatile generation of entangled states. Their applications go from sensitive metrology in multicolor systems to the generation of multiple entangled states in a scalable system, with the possible generation of cluster state that can be applied to quantum computing protocols. The student will make progress in the generation and characterization of these states on the available chips, developed by the group of prof. Michal Lipson, at Columbia University. The project includes a stage abroad on her group, for cooperation in the development of new optimized cavities, designed for the generation of the states we want. These results should have relevant impact, that may contribute to the information process at the quantum level using continuous vairalve of the electromagnetic field. Its worth reminding that this is active in our lab, with a current cooperation with prof. Olivier Pfister, at the University of Virginia. (AU)
