Abstract

The aim of the project is to evaluate the effect of dietary amino acid supplementation using a Precision feeding system on the performance and body composition of pigs housed under different environmental conditions. 96 female swine will be used distributed in a factorial scheme2×2×2: two environmental conditions (ideal - single-origin animals housed under the ideal condition of room temperature and hygiene; or precarious - a mixture of animals from different origins housed in under cyclic heat stress, poor hygiene conditions, and oral challenge by Salmonella Typhimurium); two diets (control (100%) or supplemented (120%) with Met, Tre, and Trip: Lysine, according to toNRC, 2012); two power systems (conventional by phase or power supply system precision). Conventional or precision feeding systems will be supported by feeders automated precision machines (AIPFs) for the supply of diets to swine. The experiment will have a duration of 28 days, starting from the exposure of the animals to the environmental challenge. weekly weighing will be carried out to monitor performance and to obtain data that will be used to calibrate the precision feeding model proposed by Hauschild et al. (2020). prior to beginning (d -3 and -2) and end (d 26 and 27) of the experimental period will be carried out the compositional analyzes body (lean, lipid, and bone mass deposition). Data will be analyzed by the linear model mixed via the SAS GLIMMIX procedure (version 9.4; SAS Inst. Inc., Cary, NC) testing the fixed effects of factors and their interactions. P values < 0.05 will be considered significant. THE carrying out of the project will allow the development of nutritional strategies to mitigate the effects of health challenges on the metabolism and welfare of growing pigs. (AU)
