Abstract

Soil pollution is a challenge that has involved researchers from different fields of science in search of technologies for their recovery. Thus, ex-situ soil washing appears as a simple and efficient solution for the remediation of contaminated soil. However, this treatment generates toxic effluents that cannot be discarded without proper treatment. Within this context, the present request for a research internship abroad (BEPE - "Bolsa Estágio de Pesquisa no Exterior") proposes a study on the extraction of carbamates from the soil using the soil washing technique with surfactants. Additionally, the project contemplates the application of an electrochemical process, as a later stage, using BDD anode, associated or not with the Fenton process, for the treatment of the generated effluent and, consequently, the degradation of carbamates. In this study, some factors will be evaluated, such as the type and concentration of surfactant, solid-liquid ratio, soil washing efficiency, and degradation efficiency. In addition, analytical determinations of high-performance liquid chromatography with UV / Vis detector, ion chromatography, and total organic carbon determinations will be carried out, aiming to evaluate the efficiency of each process, the energy cost, and indicating which surfactant is the most ecologically correct.
