Abstract

Among the 22,000 known species of mushrooms, about 2,000 are edible and only 100 species are cultivated worldwide. Wild mushrooms species may be very promising for cultivation studies and future insertion in the nacional market of edible mushrooms. Thus, the objective of this work is to know the diversity of species of the genus Lentinus that occur in Atlantic Forest areas and investigate the factors of in vitro cultivation in culture medium and in cultivation substrate. The gains were or will still be collected in areas of the Atlantic Forest in the Southeast of the country. The identification of the wild edible mushroom isolates will be certified through the amplification and sequencing of the ITS (fungal barcode) intergenic region of the rDNA. The identified isolates will be cultured in BDA culture medium and submitted to mycelial growth tests at different temperatures and substrates to determine the best growth condition. The growth rate and dry biomass of cultures of each isolate/species will be evaluated. Research on the potential of wild mushroom cultivation may lead to the discovery of higher productivity isolates and better adapted to local conditions than the commercially available species.
