Abstract

The investigation of open or contradictory hypotheses involving cloud-aerosol interaction is the main proposal of this project. Based on the integration of data from the ATTO tower and instruments located at the new Campina site, it is intended to evaluate topics that involve clouds vertical velocity and the concentration and formation of new particles in weather events in the Amazonia. A scanner that measures particle size (SMPS) combined with a radar wind profile (LAP3000) and a dysdrometer will provide the necessary data for this question. Among the more specific aspects, we also seek to understand the association between the new particle formation from cloud electrifications and to understand what is the impact of the particle size distribution on the formation of shallow clouds. For this purpose, in addition to SMPS, a cloud radar (MIRA35C) and an electric field sensor will be used. With the whole set of data and analysis, it is expected to contribute with answers to the questions still open and to promote progress of scientific studies in cloud-aerosol interaction. (AU)
