Abstract

Vehicular Edge Computing (VEC) is a promising paradigm that provides cloud computing services closer to vehicular users. A VEC scenario has two main processes, namely Vehicular Cloud (VC) Formation and Task Scheduling. The first process concerns the grouping and management of computational resources present in vehicles and communication infrastructures (such as 5G Base Stations). The second process concerns using these resources grouped, i.e., the tasks scheduling to be processed in the computing infrastructure created in the VEC. However, due to the known problems of Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks (VANETs) and the restricted requirements of the tasks, carrying out the two processes mentioned is not a trivial task. In this context, there is a need to propose fault-tolerant control schemes to mitigate failures in the VC formation process and the task scheduling process. In this way, this work aims to develop a generic fault-tolerant control scheme that can tackle the problems found during the study and make VEC processes more reliable and resilient. We intend our proposed approach to ensure the expected performance and achieve the state-of-the-art through simulations and analysis. (AU)
