Abstract

The Ti-6Al-4V alloy is the most used in the manufacture of biomedical implants, however, became the target of discussions due to its incompatible elastic modulus with that of the fabric bone and its chemical elements aluminum (Al) and vanadium (V) are considered toxic. Therefore, beta-titanium alloys have become promising in recent years for the present elastic modulus closer to bone tissue and chemical elements not cytotoxic to osteoblast cells. The aim of the study will be to evaluate in vitro the influence of the hydroxyapatite (HA) coating surface treatment on the physical, chemical and mechanical properties of Ti discs.Ø 5 mm x 1 mm thick (n=10): G1: Ti-6AL-4V (machined), G2: Ti-15Mo(machined), G3: Ti-12Mo-6Zr-2Fe (machined), G4: Ti-6AL-4V (coated with HA), G5: Ti 15Mo (coated with HA), G6: Ti-12Mo-6Zr-2Fe (coated with HA). To the Physical-chemical characterization of the discs will be performed roughness analysis surface, Scanning electron microscopy, and energy dispersive spectroscopy of X-rays (EDS). And mechanical analysis through Vickers microhardness and module of elasticity. The results will be submitted to parametric or non-parametric tests according to the data distribution (±=0.05).(AU)
