Abstract

The project is part of studying chemical processes induced by low and intermediate-energy electrons with molecules of interest in atmospheric sciences. It is intended to experimentally investigate the electron impact-induced ionic dissociation pattern for the dimethyl sulfide molecule by using time-of-flight mass spectrometry. This molecule is the primary source of sulfur of non-anthropogenic origin in the atmosphere and plays an essential role in the formation of cloud condensation nuclei, thus participating in climate regulation. Partial cross-section data for cation production from the ionic dissociation process, as well as total ionization cross sections, should be obtained. In addition, from the appearance energy of each cation, the heat of their formation will be obtained. A comparative analysis with literature data should be carried out. (AU)
