Abstract

The relationship between animals and men is quite old and has played an increasingly relevant role in the lives and health of both involved. Horses perform numerous functions, from the simplest as a pet to important performance in tasks associated with work and sport. The present investigation aimed to estimate the vaccination coverage against neurotropic infectious diseases, including some zoonotic ones, in horses residing in the Paraíba Valley. The diseases selected for their importance in equine culture were rabies, viral encephalomyelitis, tetanus and rhinopneumonitis. For this purpose, a questionnaire will be applied, upon signing the Informed Consent Term by those responsible for accepting to participate in the survey, via Google Forms. The research will contribute to the operational evaluation of immunization programs, as well as to the design of efficient strategies for the prevention and control of diseases relevant to animal and human health. The data obtained will be tabulated, standardized and analyzed according to the frequency in which they occur in the sampling. (AU)
