Abstract

This study aims to develop experimental solutions containing fluoride and stannous ions associated film-form polymers, to promote tubular occlusion and control dentin hypersensitivity. Dentin fragments will be immersed in a 17% EDTA for 5 min and randomly distributed into 13 groups (n = 10): 1. Negative Control Group, with deionized water; 2. Group F Commercial (250 ppm F-, NaF + AmF); 3. Group F (225 ppm F-, NaF); 4. Group F + Sn (225 ppm F- and 800 ppm Sn2+, SnCl2) ; 5. MPC Group; 6. LPP Group; 7. Chitosan Group; 8. F + MPC Group; 9. F + LPP Group; 10. F + Chitosan Group; 11. F + Sn + MPC Group; 12. F Group + Sn + LPP; 13. Group F + Sn + Chitosan. The specimens will be tested on an erosive-abrasive cycling (immersion in a 0.3% citric acid solution - 5 min, followed by immersion in artificial saliva - 60min, 4x/day, for 5 days). Brushing will be performed 30 minutes after the first and the last erosive challenges. The change in dentin permeability will be determined by hydraulic conductance (% Lp). Tubular occlusion will be evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively in the micrographs. In the second phase, the polymers or associations that obtained the most promising results will be added to a dentifrice formula, which will be then tested for their ability to reduce dentin permeability and promote tubular occlusion after an erosive-abrasive cycling. The data will be statistically analyzed, considering a significance level of 5%. (AU)
