Abstract

The objective of the Research Internship Abroad (BEPE) is to continue the research carried out in Brazil. Considering the complexity and diversity of results that were generated by this study, the opportunity to share these data with another researcher is important, allowing a better interpretation and enrichment of the research. This might be especially important for the fecal microbiome analysis, as it is a new area of research for the Brazilian group, and much better established at the Prof. Fascetti's research group. The research carried out in Brazil aimed to evaluate and compare the effects of ²-glucans extracted from the yeast cell wall with those extracted from seaweed on the intestinal microbiota composition, fermentation products in feces and some immunological parameters of adult dogs (cytokines in feces and blood, Immunoglobulin A and calprotectin in feces, C-reactive protein in blood, monocytes and neutrophils phagocytosis index in peripheral blood, ex vivo production of oxygen and nitrogen intermediates and immunoglobulin G by monocytes and neutrophils cell cultures). Data also included postprandial curves of glucose and insulin of dogs fed the different diets. (AU)
