Abstract

Since 2020, the academic community has attempted to solve the pandemic and to create alternative protocols to keep up with research and health in the COVID-19 scenario. Stanford School of Medicine is one of the biggest centers of scientifical research, health development, and ophthalmology in the world, and, during these years, has demonstrated a lot of effort and commitment to the overcoming of COVID-19. This Research Internship Abroad requisition has the objective to analyse and compare data on ocular inflammatory diseases and COVID-19, to understand methods of research in ophthalmology, to learn how the American academic ophthalmology is practiced at clinical and surgical level, and to produce new cooperation research. To achieve those objectives, this internship is going to be held during 3 months at Byers Eye Institute, Stanford School of Medicine. The project will be conducted in four main steps: a) Basic science learning; b) Observational internship on clinical and surgical ophthalmology; c) COVID-19 data analysis; d) Planning new research and partnerships. The results of the internship are going to be presented in form of scientific reports and research papers. (AU)
