Abstract

It is well known that the energy consumption of a country is strictly related to its economic growth. Thus, to improve power transformer performance, it is necessary to develop new procedures aiming to reduce power losses of grain-oriented electrical steels (GOES). An alternative to achieve this goal is the performance of stress annealing (TTT) since it could reduce power loss on magnetic materials. However, the projects carried out by our group have used a time of around 20 minutes, making its application in the industry unfeasible due to the extended period. Thus, the present project aims to identify if the TTT will be efficient in short-duration treatments (5 minutes). Furthermore, as this treatment effects are related to diffusional activities, the temperature used will be 700°C to offset the low diffusion time. It is important to point out that in order to avoid possible creep deformations, which would make it difficult to interpret the results, the stress annealing will use stress of 5 MPa. Finally, the hysteresis loops and their magnetic properties (power loss, coercive, and remanent field) will be analyzed in order to explain the variations that occur after stress annealing.(AU)
