Abstract This project aims to investigate the importance in which Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770-1831) comprehends the ornament, based on the chapter "Romantic Architecture" in the Lectures on Aesthetics. The present employment will be developed as comparative research, having as its starting point the text "On German Architecture" by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) and the excerpts about the gothic architecture from the Lectures on Fine Art and Literature by August Wilhelm von Schlegel (1767-1845). The study of this works operates in conformance with the main objective sighted here: to understand how Hegel stands up in regard to the problem of gothic ornament.(AU) | |
