Abstract

Unconventional food plants (PANC) are still uncommon in many people's lives, even offering high accessibility due to easy cultivation. They are still absent in several meals. In this way, if people were more willing to value these types of crops, they would realize their importance and develop autonomy in the production of their food. To the surprise of many, these plants have high nutritional values that are considered very important for our body and have levels equal to or above those of commonly consumed vegetables. In addition, PANC may contain some minerals and vitamins that are not found in other foods. Thus, the objective of this scientific initiation project will be to identify the mineral composition present in samples from the following PANC: serralha (Sonchus oleraceus), peixinho (Nematanthus gregarious), and leaves of ora-pro-nóbis (Pereskia aculeata Miller), using the technique analytical energy-dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF) combined with chemometric models. In addition to making wide dissemination; then the entire population has access to knowledge about the benefits these plants add to our lives.(AU)
