Effect of parents online learning in naturalistic strategies of language stimulation

Abstract

Teaching parents to stimulate children's language in the family's daily life is especially indicated for children with speech delays. Due to the Covid-19 pandemics, the online method of education grew prominently and has been a successful way of developing new abilities. The present study aims to a) a) evaluate the effect of remote naturalistic language training on the behavior of parents of children with language delay;b) evaluate the effect of training in the expressive vocabulary of the child; c) verify the parent's satisfaction with the intervention. 30 parents of children between 2 and 3 years will participate in the present study. This large group will be divided into two smaller groups, experimental and control. The behavior taught to the parents will be measured through video footage and quizzes on the online learning platform. Regarding the children's language, their abilities will be measured before and after the intervention. The results of those two moments will be compared afterward. It's expected that the parents increase their strategies of language stimulation used in the family's daily life and express the learning process evolution on the online learning platform. It's also expected to observe an improvement in the child's expressive language. The satisfaction quiz will provide data that can be used as well to make the intervention better suited to online learning platforms. (AU)
