Study of bone response of implant surface coated with odanacatib through wettability, topographic, cell culture, histomorphometry and computed microtomography analyses

Abstract

Currently, studies in the literature promote the success of osseointegration in modified titanium implant surfaces. Addressing the challenges of finding chemical components that promote changes in favor of the process of early bone neoformation. However, there is still a need to improve the technology of these materials for early bone regeneration. With this, the objective of this work is to evaluate the dynamics of the bone response of a surface modified by double acid attack, modified by acid plus Body Fluid Solution/Body Fluid Solution (SBF), and modified by the active ingredient Odanacatib, at a concentration of 0,86mg/L, using the biomimetic method in a standardized rat tibia model. For this purpose, 96 male rats (Rattus novergicus Albinus Wistar) and 192 commercially pure titanium implants of 1.6 diameters and 6.0 mm long, 64 with double acid attack surface (GC), 64 with the modified surface by double acid attack, and SFC (GX) 64 with modified Odanacatib (GO) base by the biomimetic surface modification method to be installed in rat tibias. The specimens will be submitted to topographic, cell culture, histological, and computed microtomography analysis. For cell culture analysis, 6 male Wistar rats (Rattus novergicus Albinus Wistar) will be assigned and 48 titanium discs will be used, 8 mm diameter and 2 mm high for 24 wells, 16 with double acid attack surface (GCC)16 with SBF modified surface (GXC) and 16 with Odanacatib modified surface (GOC) by the biomimetic method of surface modification. The quantitative data will be evaluated adopting the level of significance p < 0.05.
