Abstract

Muscle weakness represents the loss of functionality and mobility in the lives of pediatric patients and is frequently addressed in the literature concerning lower limbs. However, the upper limbs play the role of locomotors through additions, restoring certain independence to the child or adolescent whose lower limbs are affected. This study aims to determine reference values for peak torque, power, work, and agonist/antagonist ratio for the pediatric population's elbow flexor and extensor muscles. Approximately 150 children and adolescents will participate in the study. Body mass, height, and body composition of individuals will be measured. Participants will be positioned on the isokinetic dynamometer chair and perform isometric and dynamic - 120°/s - contractions at the preferred limb. The collected data will be processed in an Octave environment. SPSS version 20.0 will be used for statistical analysis, and the sample will be characterized through descriptive statistics of the participant's physical characteristics. Means and confidence intervals will be calculated after verifying the normality of the data by the Shapiro-Wilk test.(AU)
