Abstract

Individuals with cerebral palsy (CP) have reached adulthood in greater proportions, which makes it relevant to understand their transition to adulthood. Participation autonomy and quality of life (QoL) are aspects that are not well explored in the literature due to the lack of appropriate instruments, especially for the Brazilian population. Thus, the objective is to validate the Rotterdam Transition Profile (RTP) questionnaire for use in Brazil, as well as to characterize the profile of transition to adulthood and QoL in this population, through the application of the RTP and the Quality of Life Questionnaire of World Health Organization (WHOQOL-BREF), respectively. Furthermore, associations of QoL with levels of gross motor function, manual ability, communication, and autonomy in participation will be explored. The validation process will be divided into a construct (n=8 professionals) and content (n=50 individuals with CP) validation. The participants with CP (13-30 years) should be able to understand and answer questions independently. Will also be applied electronically: sociodemographic questionnaire, Mini Mental State Examination, Gross Motor Function Classification System, Manual Ability Classification System, Functional Communication Classification System, and WHOQOL-BREF. The characterization data will be presented in a descriptive way. The analysis of factors associated with the levels of QoL will be done through correlation tests and regression models. We expect to characterize the profile of transition to adulthood, as well as QoL, in young Brazilians with CP. The levels of gross motor function, manual skill, communication, education, and autonomy in participation may be associated with lower levels of QOL.(AU)
