Abstract

First described in 1886, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) is currently the most common group of progressive peripheral neuropathies of hereditary autosomal dominant, recessive, or X-linked nature. As there is no cure, the clinical care of children and adolescents with CMT focuses mainly on early and accurate diagnosis, physical rehabilitation strategies, which minimise the progression of signs and symptoms. Despite the importance of clinical care, the first clinical practice guideline for the care of children and adolescents with CMT was only published in early 2022. This guideline directs and informs allied health professionals as to how best to carry out the management of morbidity and thus achieve a better treatment response. For the findings of this guideline to be widely disseminated, this article aims to prepare a Practice Brief of the article "Clinical practice guideline for the management of paediatric Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease" in English and Portuguese languages and disseminate this product using digital media in Australia, Brazil, Europe and North America. For this, an Practice Brief of the article will be elaborated in the English and Portuguese languages and, after the production of the layout following the criteria of MOREIRA, NÓBREGA e SILVA, 2003, it will be carried through the spreading in international and national digital platforms, by email to patients and physiotherapists participants of the ambulatory of Infantile CMT of the Rehabilitation Center of the Hospital of the Clinics of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo and Brazilian Association of Charcot-Marie-Tooth, besides being submitted as a Short communications to the Brazilian Journal of Physical Therapy.
