Abstract

The main purpose of this work is to analyze the contribution of extension actions to the professional development of spatial planners, aiming to support the incipient debate on the impacts of the extension practice in this field. The thematic definition of such research is, on one hand, aligned with the candidate's academic history, who took part and currently coordinates extension projects, and, on the other, is part of the research interests of the research project "Social co-production of the city and citizen Science: A comparative perspective on working class and precarious neighborhoods in France and in Brazil." The Laboratory for Spatial Justice (LABJUTA - UFBC), coordinated Prof. PhD. Francisco Comaru, supervisor of this proposal, is part of the research project. Academic extension programs have been presented by academic studies as the interaction between university and society, understood, as defined by the National University Extension Plan, as "a two-way street, with transit assured to the academic community, which will find in society the opportunity to the elaboration of a praxis based on academic knowledge." For this reason, one of the axes of greater complexity and importance in the triptych structure of the Brazilian university, together with the areas of teaching and research. The analysis will be supported by various methodological procedures (bibliographic review, data collection, cataloging and analysis of data projects, realization of focus groups and interviews with students who have been participating in extension projects), as well as the promotion of debates together with the evaluation and dissemination of the research, which includes an international seminar. One of the pretensions of the proposed work, in the institutional context of Resolution CNE/CES No.7, of December 18, 2018, is to understand the impacts of the experience of extension works as an actor in the social production of the city as part of the professional development.
