Abstract

Pediatric traumatic brain injury is an important public health problem in Brazil and worldwide that lacks studies on this population. This project aims to evaluate the epidemiology of pediatric TBI patients in a neurosurgery referral service and to identify factors associated with unfavorable outcomes for patients. This is cohort research with retrospective data collection from pediatric TBI patients treated at the Emergency Unit of the Clinics Hospital of Ribeirão Preto from 1997. The data will be collected from the hospital's Epidemiological Surveillance database. Sociodemographic, clinical, and imaging variables will be collected and inserted in predictive models to identify factors associated with a favorable neurological prognosis using univariate, multivariate inferential statistics and machine learning. We hope to contribute to the HCFMRP, the Emergency Unit, SAMU, UPA, and UBS of the region from reports and presentations of the results found on pediatric TBI to these services and help the prognosis of these patients, and contribute to medical literature in this subject.(AU)
