Abstract Bone marrow adipose tissue (BMAT) presents unique features which distinguish it from other adipose tissues like white, brown and beige tissues. It is built up during aging and in other circumstances like anorexia nervosa. It is not yet completely clear how bone tissue loss takes place in conditions of increasing bone marrow adipose tissue. The aim of the present study is to verify the difference in the expression of BMP2, BMP4 and PPAR³ factors in white and bone marrow adipose tissues in C57Bl/6J mice, global knocked out for 11 beta-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 global knockout and 11 beta-Hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 floxed mice. Mice will be submitted to 30% of caloric restriction and we will verify how corticosterone affects the BMAT niche in these animals. We hypothesize that the expression of BMP2, BMP4 and PPAR³ should be different in either white adipose tissue or BMAT and knocked out and floxed animals submitted to caloric restriction shall present lower BMAT values when compared to the control group. Yet, mutant animals shall present preserved bone tissue when compared to control animals submitted to caloric restriction. (AU) | |
