This investigation deals with a visual analysis of black representation in the Brazilian publishing market in the years 2019, 2020, and 2021, having as its object of study magazine covers and the front pages of printed newspapers with national circulation. Discussing the state of the art of Brazilian print media and based on a time frame based on the murder of George Floyd and João Alberto Silveira Freitas, the research aims to identify a possible parallel between the repercussion of cases of racism in Brazil and the representative increase of black people in covers before and after the occurrence of these facts. In addition, it is intended to carry out a survey of data on the different emphases practiced by the Brazilian print media when reporting national and international cases of racism, facts relevant to the black population in contrast to the white population, as well as the racial representation relevant to gender and sexual orientation.
