Abstract

New spatial practices are deepening social inequalities and other urban problemsin Brazilian cities. The process of formation, structuring and the respective tendencies ofsocio-spatial differentiation stimulated by external dynamics, added to neoliberal logics, have been aggravating and accelerating the process of socio-spatial ruptures, contributing to a cityincreasingly heterogeneous and fragmented. The city of Chapecó (SC), has a dynamic ofoccupation and urban expansion that took place concomitantly with socio-spatial segregation, ina socio-spatial formation marked by small properties. The aim of this study isto identify the process of socio-spatial fragmentation and its consequences in the daily lives ofcity dwellers and to verify to what extent the scenario of diversity of urban sociability defines andare defined by fragmentary logic. Therefore, the methodological procedures adoptedseek to characterize the history of the municipality in its processes of structuring and restructuring andcarry out a study on the personal networks of city dwellers of different socio-spatial profiles, forthrough social network analysis techniques, in order to understand the fragmentary dynamicsfrom the spatial practices of city dwellers in Chapecó (SC).
