Abstract

Regenerative processes are common procedures in current dentistry. Understanding andenabling regenerative processes associated with auxiliary therapies that improve oraccelerate these procedures may be relevant in the face of challenges in reconstructiveprocedures. The aim of the study aims to evaluate the possible benefit of using ozonetherapy, when applied together with biodegradable membranes in critical defects in youngrat caps in guided bone regeneration processes. 80 male Wistar rats will be used, dividedinto 4 groups. COA Group, which will have the presence of only the clot in the criticaldefect (CD); COA + OZ Group, where the animals will receive ozone therapy in additionto the clot; OURO Group, where only a porcine collagen membrane will be used and theOURO + OZ group that will receive the same previous therapy added to ozone therapy.A critical defect will be made in the hubcap of all 8mm diameter rats. The groups COA+ OZ and GOLD + OZ, will receive the application of ozone intraperitoneally, in thedosage of 0.7 ml / kg of the animal, every 2 days, starting in the immediate postoperativeperiod. The animals will be euthanized after 7, 15, 30 and 60 days. The pieces will beanalyzed for residual linear extent of the defect, inflammatory profile, collagenmaturation level, volumetric parameters by microCT, osteogenic potential, bone tissuematuration through immunohistochemistry (OPN and OCN) and quantitative analysis ofbone neoformation in the region the defect. After analyzing the results obtained, the beststatistical test will be applied with a confidence level of p <0.05.
