Abstract

The proposal involves the deposition of TiO2 thin films, through the sol-gel-dip-coating technique, which will be combined with layers of quinoline derivatives, deposited by dip-coating. Previous results show the difficulties of deposition of these organic compounds in the form of thin films by this process, although they point to the way in this direction. Thus, alternatively, the quinoline films will be deposited by electrodeposition. In obtaining and depositing the films of these organic compounds, the participation of Dr. Lucas Michelão Martins, postdoctoral fellow at the dep. of Chemistry at FC will be fundamental. The TiO2/quinoline combination aims at the possibility of application in optoelectronics, due to the combination of the high optical transparency of the inorganic matrix with the luminescent properties of quinoline, and the construction of p-n junction devices, since TiO2 is naturally of the n-type. and quinolines tend to carry majority positive charges. In addition, it is believed that this combination can also be used in gas sensors, which will be tested.
