Abstract

This research project aims to investigate and analyze the valorization and recognition of industrial urban heritage located in São Paulo's East Zone, specifically in the Brás-Tatuapé subway segment, an urban axis that is seen/seized/experienced daily by a multitude largely through the speed of the subways. Given the speed of displacements and the accelerated pace imposed on contemporary urban experiences, the research proposes to investigate the heritage recognition of areas of the city seen and apprehended by such conditions, seeking theoretical and methodological references in the psychogeographic experimentation articulated with motorized displacements and in the dialogue with artistic works that have explored the register of movement and speed in their productions. As a research event, we selected the subway axis that accompanies Radial Leste Avenue, in the city of São Paulo: the East-West line of the Subway, between the Brás and Tatuapé stations, a segment of the city that is particularly relevant for understanding the processes of urban transformation and the different temporalities imprinted on the built materiality that is apprehended from public transport. From this perspective, the investigation aims to build bases that enhance the debate on the collective appropriation of urban heritage along this area, considering the conditions for its recognition in contemporaneity, as well as its insertion, continuity and discontinuity in the construction of the aesthetic and political imaginary of the city of São Paulo.
