Abstract

The present doctoral project proposes the development of an algorithm to determine in real time the attributes of the energy chain such as: temperature of the transmission lines, deflection of the towers, area invasion, flooding, deforestation, vegetation growth, subsidence, erosion, biomass and biometric parameters and soil moisture. Such attributes are necessary for autonomous monitoring of the energy chain composed of energy generators, transmission lines and distribution centers. To reduce the cost of operating autonomous monitoring, the attributes can also be used in agriculture. Autonomous development is the research topic of the underline Radares postdoctoral project.The main task of this work is to develop an algorithm that allows the calculation of all ten attributes mentioned above simultaneously and with a computational effort, which can be executed in real-time by a high performance personal computer. The algorithm is multidisciplinary, as it processes data from an optical sensor and a radar sensor. The algorithm encompasses the following functionalities: calculation of position and orientation of sensors based on D-GNSS and inertial platform data, classification of thermal images, compression in range and azimuth of raw radar data, differential interferometry, polarimetric classification, change detection , moisture and biomass calculation based on the reflectivity of the P, L and C bands of the radar and baseline interferometry perpendicular to the flight direction.
