Abstract

The purpose of this project is to analyze how the Common National Curricular Base (BNCC) guidelines about the didactic-pedagogical work to be developed with the theme of citizenship and social life have been interpreted and put into practice by high school textbooks. The work is focused on the role assigned to the subject-reader in such teaching proposals. To this end, our analysis shall be based on Freirean conceptions of education and on theories about the place of the reader in the act of reading. The research corpus includes textbooks in the areas of Languages and Life Projects distributed by the National Book and Teaching Material Program, linked to the Ministry of Education (MEC), and by the SP Faz Escola program, of the São Paulo State Education Department (SEDUC-SP). As for the methodology, we resorted to the theoretical and methodological contributions of Objective Hermeneutics, a variant of qualitative social research concerned with the tensions between aspiration and pedagogical practice, but still unexplored in the field of textbook studies. It is, therefore, an investigation of qualitative bias, based on the objective hermeneutic method and on bibliographic and documentary research, which aims to contribute to the development of diagnoses and the identification and discussion of concrete aspects on the effectiveness of pedagogical practices that support the implementation of educational policies.
