Abstract

Systems and objects digitalization is the main issue of hundreds of studies and developments for industry and academy. As the constituting blocks of smart grids, the implementation of microgrids considers digital monitoring of resources and the application of energy management systems that define the components dispatches using optimization models to achieve its specific goals. Some of the main challenges a digital system faces are data security, fault detection, determining ideal timing for equipment maintenance, and checking the operation specified by the energy management system. In that way, digital twins are virtual and faithful representations of the physical system and have an automatic and bidirectional flow, continuously learning and influencing its operation. The development of digital twins considers the digital model of the system, the integration with real-time data, and, finally, the model evolution and adaptation. Therefore, this project wants to create a digital twin for the laboratory microgrid of UNICAMP, the LabREI, and define a methodology for developing microgrid's digital twins, using CAMPUSGRID, UNICAMP campus microgrid, as a case of study.
