Abstract

Ceriantharia is a subclass belonging to the phylum Cnidaria, about which there is few information, especially related to reproductive biology and life cycle of these organisms. The phylogenetic organization of the clade is still uncertain, and there is considerable confusion between the existing data. Considering that most of the most recent researches involve molecular analyzes and leave morphological data aside, the present work focuses on the comparative evaluation of the gametogenic structure of different species and genera of Ceriantharia, seeking to recover phylogenetic signal and discussing life cycle patterns at from these. The data obtained will also be compared with existing morphological and molecular data and may later support new research, in addition to complementing several studies involving the clade, given the current scarcity of information about this clade.
