Abstract The cultivation of spheroids and microfluidics are techniques used to create a microenvironment closer to the physiological one in vitro, recreating cell-cells, extracellular matrix-cells interaction and simulating hydrodynamic conditions. Some groups have used microfluidic devices to assess the chemotaxis produced by the spheroid secretome in relation to endothelial cell sprouting. It was verified that the spheroids allow the sprout in their direction of blood vessel like structures, with a functional lumen. One of the great current challenges of Bone Bioengineering is the creation of a vascularized graft or one that is pro-angiogenic. The vascularization in vivo is a crucial factor for the success of the regeneration. In this way, the development of in vitro methods that can evaluate the pro-angiogenic potential of engineered grafts, before evaluation in animal models, is a tool that optimizes the development of new biomaterials, bioinks and cellularized grafts. This comes in line with the 3Rs, reducing the use of animals in research. Therefore, the aim of this interchange grant is to create a microfluidic device that allows an assessment of the angiogenic potential of osteogenic spheroids from DPSCs, this being a step before in vivo testes. Our group has been working on the "Biofabrication of biomimetic bone micro tissue", therefore, the knowledge acquired with this grant will add a lot to our laboratory's research line, in addition to strengthening our international cooperation, allowing the performance of basic research at the frontier of knowledge and technological innovation in the field of Tissue Engineering.
