Abstract

The hearing loss age related it is considered one of the most prevalent problems in the elderly population and also could include desfavorable consequences. In the case of biopsychosocial health, it reveals the importance to comprehend the restriction of participation and some others disadvantages of hearing loss through the individual self-perception of the aged person. The objective is to verify if the restriction of auditive participation is associated with self-perception of health and hearing loss, also with social support and the quality of life of aged people. Method: The study will be a cross-sectional, observational, descriptive with a quantitative approach to the data study. It aims to use a database which is composed of information collected in 2017 at the residence of 238 aged people whom/who were registered in 5 unities of "Estratégia de Saúde da Família" from a medium-sized city of São Paulo. The instruments applied were: Hearing Handicap Inventory for the Elderly Screening Version (HHIE-S), Medical Outcomes Study (MOS), the Self-perception of Health Avaliation and Short-Form 6 dimensions (SF-6D). In addition, it will have an organization of data in a spreadsheet including sociodemographic information, also the presence of comorbidities and the results of the assessments. Furthermore, it will be made the descriptive statistics with measures of position and dispersion for continuous variables and frequency for categorical variables. Among the variables, it aims to compare the groups with and without restriction of auditory participation. At the end, the binary logistic regression method will be used to evaluate the relationships of the independent variables on the dependent variables, and the significance level that will be adopted is 5% (p d 0.05).
