Abstract

Over the years, the body adapts as our daily demands. Likewise, changes occur in the ear structures, affecting the characteristics of the incident sound. During the aging process, is undergoing modifications to ear anatomy and physiology that influence the way the sound is decoded, involving structures such as the external ear, middle, and internal auditory cortex. These changes somatized when other factors have great impact on senile seniors leading social barriers such as isolation and depression, since it loses contact with the outside world by this sensory pathway. In this sense the HA is able to not only restore this bond, but hope, inclusion, new expectations, and most importantly, quality of life for patients with this deprivation. However, there are still difficulties to the use of hearing aids as well as to better useamplification for the hearing impaired elderly patient. Thus there is a needdirected a study of the adaptation process of sound amplification in this population, in the case of an active population growing in Brazil and worldwide. The objective of this study is to analyze the fitting of hearing aids in deaf elderly patient benefit from comparing the standard programming and individualized programming. 30 patients will participate in this project deaf seniors enrolled in Speech Pathology Clinic, who are selected by the inclusion criteria. Will be tested with three different schedules appliance UNAMAZ (Phonak) being achieved primarily standard programming secondarily programming using the measurements of the patient REUR and finally programming using the measured RECD. The verification of these measures will be carried out by measuring probe microphone (REAR, REIG) and then the test will be performedHINT to investigate the benefit of speech perception in different settings.
