Abstract

Machining process is the fabrication method of removing material largely utilized in the industrial environment for the creation of parts and objects. However, concerning the drilling, it is a challenger process to be implemented due to requirements of accuracy and repeatability. In this sense, Industry 4.0 (I4.0) rises with advances in the digital transformation of the industry that allows integration between the real and virtual worlds. Moreover, the integration enables the production monitoring on real-time by advanced manufacturing systems. In this way, simulations, based on digital manufacturing, can be used to improve the drilling process. Thus, this research proposes the use of Siemens Tecnomatix for development of a process framework, using a robotic arm, in order to improve the drilling process. For that, the DOE method will be applied to find the main factors that impacts in the drilling operations. Furthermore, it will be possible to propose studies of better scenarios for the machining operations. So, this study aims to carry out simulations in the virtual world, to collect data for the drilling operations. (AU)
