Abstract

Introduction: resistance exercise has gained popularity in recent decades due to the promising health promotion benefits of individuals with type 2 diabetes (DM2), which affects approximately 425 million people in the world today. Objective: to investigate the effect of anaerobic resisted physical training on the glycemia of individuals with DM2. Materials and methods: The study was approved by the Ethics Committee. Sample: eight patients with DM2 (62.37±9.65 years) of both sexes and sedentary. They are reserved for a resistance physical training program (TFR), consisting of two weekly sessions for 12 weeks, with 60% 1RM and 5 exercises for large muscle groups. Before and after the TFR period, fasting blood glucose will be evaluated. For analysis of the result, the SPSS software version 19.0 for Windows will be used, adopting a significance level of 5%. Hypothesis: that the resistance physical training protocol is effective in reducing fasting glycemia in type 2 diabetics.
