Abstract

This post-doctoral research project aims to analyze the impacts of higher education access policies, with an emphasis on affirmative action, from the urban outskirts of the city of São Paulo. Through a multi-sited analysis, that is, one that considers local and global aspects, especially from a South-South perspective, it proposes to understand how such inclusion actions are articulated with other social policies and production processes in peripheral territories, especially in terms of refers to the expansion of rights and the emergence of new agendas and political subjects. In this way, it starts from the hypothesis that the expansion of access to higher education constitutes a productive dimension of the peripheries of the city, either through an ambiguous path that expands access, but maintains inequality (training in low-quality private institutions), or by amplifying and diversifying the possibilities of producing struggles and resistance by bringing together student and peripheral activism increasingly forged in terms of race, gender, sexuality and territory.
