Adaptation of the Time Attitudes Inventory and the Adolescent and Adult Time Attitude Scale for the Brazilian context

Abstract

Subjective time is a multidimensional phenomenon that encompasses interdependent intraindividual skills and processes. In this study, we aim to adapt the Time Attitudes Inventory and the Adolescent and Adult Time Attitude Scale (AATAS) to the Brazilian context. Participants will be 600 Brazilian adults. The Time Attitudes Inventory, the AATAS, the Zimbardo Temporal Perspective Inventory, and the Perceived Stress Scale will be the instruments of the study. Descriptive analyses, confirmatory factor analyses, internal consistency analyses, Item Response Theory analyses, and correlation analyses will be used to examine the psychometric properties of the two adapted measures. All statistical procedures will be performed in RStudio software (version 4.4.1). As outcomes, it is expected: i) to validate the factorial structures of the two measures; ii) to identify appropriate validity parameters, considering the relationship with external measures; iii) to verify the levels of precision and internal consistency of the instruments; and iv) to provide, via Item Response Theory, data regarding the discrimination power of the items.
