Abstract

The obsolescence scenario of railway sites has been (re)significated through strategies of new uses and measures that end up promoting new forces and changes in the production of urban space. Therefore, this research consists in investigating the processes of intervention and their developments in the railway sites of the twin cities of Santana do Livramento and Rivera, on the Brazil-Uruguay border, from different interventions: the first with cultural use and the second with the resumption of passenger transportation. The proposed method is based on the cartography of the sensitive that intends to reveal to what extent certain actions favor or not, a form of resistance or weakening of social-spatial contexts, facing the processes of production of the city and the contemporary urban space. The hypothesis presented is that the instrumentalization of the material and immaterial heritage as a form of "transmission" of certain historical processes does not understand the integrality of the power of symbolic and cultural values intrinsic to the railway sites, so that such processes tend to a weakening of the relations of belonging, resulting from globalized and hegemonic strategies of a city produced for consumption.
